AHLUL KISA

AHLUL KISA
(written by APEP WAHYUDIN on 18 December 1999)

Five stars were twinkling at night
They were colorful and shining very bright
The formation was well ordered and tight
O, what a wonderful sight!

Their shine a-shining the entire night
Was naturally pure in bright
The light was solid and tight
O, what a wonderful sight!

Ahlul-Kisa gathered at night
In a divinely blessed house of bright
Holding one another so close and tight
O, what a wonderful sight!

Ahlul-Kisa blessed the whole night
With their solemn prayers in a guidance of bright
Enjoining their hearts to unite very tight
O, what a wonderful sight!

Ahlul-Kisa had enlightened the night
Throughout the history gloriously bright
The guidance they brought was firm and tight
O, what a wonderful sight!

AHLUL KISA:

Ahlul Kisa or the people under a piece of mantel or blanket (KISA--Arabic, meaning blanket or mantel) tells you about the event when one of the Qur'anic verses sent upon our beloved prophet Muhammad (saaw). The Qur'anic verse was the 33rd verse of Surrah Al-Ahzab:

"Verily willeth Allah to keep away impurity from you O people of the house (Ahlul Bayt). And He purifieth you with the perfect purification"(QS. Al-Ahzab: 33)

Rasulullah (saaw) recited this verse among his beloved family: Ali bin Abi Thalib as. (his cousin and son in law, the righteous caliph after the martyrdom of Muhammad saaw.); Fathimah az-Zahra as. (his beloved daughter); and his grandsons--the eyes of Rasulullah: Al-Hasan and Al-Husein (as). While reciting the verse, Rasulullah (saaw) covered himself with his mantel and asked the four holy people to join him inside the mantel. Rasulullah (saaw) addressed Allah by saying:

"O, Allah! These constitute my progeny! Keep them away from every kind of impurity, purified with perfect purification"

Ummu Salama (ra)--the righteous wife the Holy Prophet--witnessing this marvelous occassion, humbly submitted to the holy prophet.
"O, Rasulullah! May I also join the group?" to which the Holy Prophet replied, "No, remain thou in thine own place, thou art in goodness."
